Professional indemnity broker

“In my opinion, there isn’t anyone out there more qualified than Karen to handle these issues.  I would recommend her to any Accountant facing a complaint or investigation by their professional body”

Professional indemnity broker

“I have worked with Karen and her team for many years and know they have the expertise to understand the intricacies of the regulatory regime. Those specialising in the regulatory regime often don’t understand how Professional Indemnity Policies work. Karen is a rare breed. She knows how a PII Policy works and understands the interplay between the two, when a complaint or disciplinary issue warrants notification to PII insurers, to avoid policy notification issues for the Insured and also when an Insured professional might benefit from the ‘costs’ cover that may be available to him/her under his policy and how to seek it. In addition, Karen can winkle out any professional negligence issues that may arise in any complaint or disciplinary matter and tread the delicate path between the two.
I have seen Insureds enter into Consent Orders with their regulator, in order, they think, to bring a difficult time to an end – only to find that their professional indemnity insurer has then taken issue with them for doing so without insurer’s consent- as they have inadvertently, breached Policy conditions, which in turn has compromised their insurance cover.
I have absolutely no issues in knowing that – with Karen and her Team – my Insureds are in safe hands.”

Accountancy and tax practice

“We are an accountancy and tax practice regulated by the ICAEW. ICAEW opened an investigation into a media article that included statements about the firm’s expertise, which they felt could potentially amount to unsubstantiated claims. This arose from a simple omission of a statement of opinion that was easy to do. The situation was stressful, with potential reputational and regulatory implications for the firm and author of the media article. We wanted to ensure the matter was handled correctly, robustly and transparently while protecting the firm’s reputation and demonstrating our commitment to professional standards.

We had no reservations working with Karen Eckstein Limited. We already had a general retainer with Karen and her team, so we’re used to picking up the phone whenever tricky risk issues arise. We know that their advice is always practical, commercial, and easy to apply.

Karen’s calm and methodical approach immediately stood out. Her detailed understanding of ICAEW procedures meant she knew exactly what evidence and actions were needed to demonstrate that we had identified the issue and corrected it. She guided us through every step, from clarifying the wording used in the press to establishing a robust sign-off process for future communications. The whole experience became a valuable learning opportunity rather than just a regulatory (and stressful) challenge.

ICAEW accepted the corrective steps we took to amend the media article and confirmed that no further action would be taken. More importantly, we now have stronger internal checks in place and a clearer understanding of how to manage public statements responsibly. Karen’s insight has helped us build lasting improvements that go well beyond this single issue.

Karen’s approach is strategic and reassuring. She’s responsive, practical, and always focused on achieving the best positive outcome.

Karen’s detailed knowledge of ICAEW regulations and expectations was invaluable. She guided us through each step, helping us resolve the issue effectively while also strengthening our governance and controls. Having someone who genuinely understands how the ICAEW works – and what they expect to see – made all the difference to the outcome and to how we approach these matters in future.

On a scale of 1 to 10, we would rate our likelihood of recommending Karen Eckstein Limited as a 10.”
